Spring Break 2018-Week 1

I lived my best Mom life during the first week of our spring break this year.  G and I sashayed around town like a true stay at home mom/daughter duo.

I took her to get her zen on one afternoon at kids yoga.

She loved the instructor.  She also insisted that  she wear her leotard over her leggings, not the other way around.
Why?
She kept saying that was the way I wore my leotard and leggings.
Excuse me?
I am the Queen Bee in my house, but I'm not THE QUEEN B-

I haven't worn a leotard in at least 34 years.  Alas, I did not argue.

We lunched at Patachou.
Twice.
Only one visit was documented-

We picked out some new shoes.

She tested out overpriced bath products at Lush.

And then she pondered.
For at least 15 minutes.

She settled on that glittery golden egg because of Willie Wonka.

We visited the Easter Bunny.

We visited Target several times

and I took parking lot selfies and

participated in other such nonsense.

We rounded out our first week with a playdate with Georgia.

Gatlinburg pictures to come!

Suzuki Annual Concert

Last weekend we had some special visitors.  Abby and Papi arrived for the night on Saturday.  Abby was in the mood for seafood, and what Abby wants, Abby gets!
I love Bonefish Grill too, so we enjoyed dinner and stuffed ourselves silly.

On Sunday Genevieve participated in her first annual Suzuki concert.  This concert showcases the children performing in small groups.  They all have to dress alike and G channeled her inner Eloise in this sassy number-

G is in the pre-twinkle group.  She will be a pre-twink until she can play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on her violin.
That will be a long while yet.
She and her group classmates performed a song with rhythm sticks and did a dance to Twinkle.
She was pleased as punch with herself.
After she was done, she ran to us and was just beaming.

She was more than happy to pose with her fans.

Bob came solo, since YaYa already had her flight to travel to Naples with her gal pals.  When she learned that she would miss G's performance she was so bereft she practically took to her bed for a week.  I'm kidding.
It was just a day of bedtime depression.

She was happy with her Bob.

Abby and Papi departed after and Bob took the three of us for a celebratory dinner at Shapiro's.  I had a cup of vegetable soup and a slice of chocolate cake that was bigger than my face.
Balance, people.
We were so proud of our girl!

We are jazzed for her recital at the end of April.  She will be performing solo and plucking notes on her violin with her finger.  The only bow present on stage will be the giant one in her hair!

Preschool Happenings

I think this has been my longest hiatus since I started writing this silly little blog.
There has not been much to report, but Genevieve's social calendar has been in full swing.
We enjoyed seeing Peter Rabbit several weeks ago.
I love a good theme, so G wore her Jemima Puddleduck shirt and her wellies to get in the English mood.

We were delighted that some rabbit rescue organization had set up camp in the lobby of the theatre, suspiciously close to the snack bar.
Overpriced popcorn and rabbit pellets?
Don't mind if I do!

We just loved the movie.  I have a few of the little Beatrix Potter books that my mom read to us.  G loves them.  Although Peter Rabbit is like over 100 years old, those books from the early 80s are totally vintage, in my opinion.

Genevieve has been living it up during her final semester of preschool.  I liken it to spring 1997, when I was already accepted to IU and I just sorta putzed through the rest of my senior year.  I continue to dream at least bi-monthly that I never graduated from college and have been teaching without a license for 17 years.  Totally normal behavior, right?

I attended another Super Snack Friday.

When we packed up from her locker after our fruit kabobs, I noticed this delightful picture.

The drama is real.

She loved Dr. Seuss week.
She featured her IU candy stripes for red and white day again this year.

We snagged this Horton idea from one of my friends.
She was totally committed.

I was committed to our matching rain jackets.

She was so excited to tell everyone in her class that there were Whos on a speck on her clover.

I was a mystery reader for her Read Across America day on Friday of that week.

I put my students on the bus and did a quick change as only I can do-

I had to crack the sunroof for my long necked self.
I mean, go big or go home.
