Eyes Wide Shut

I'm pretty jazzed today because I am blogging on my brand new MacBook Air.  It is fabulous and lightweight, and it was a great surprise from my parents.  Trinity has been wanting to throw it around the room since it is so incredibly light.  Thanks, iBob.

We celebrated Halloween in style at a party at our favorite bar.  The theme was "Eyes Wide Shut."  That was that horribly freaky-deaky Tom Cruise film from that 90s where no one wore any clothing, just masks.  We wore masks and clothing.

Steve, Allison, Pat and Meg

The masks were incredibly annoying and didn't fit anyone's face correctly.  We wore them on and off for giggles.  The best giggles came when Allison put hers on, which usually made her then get all serious and smirk a bit.  Note the photo above.
We wore cocktail attire,  however my dress comes across in photos as sort of the typical "It's Halloween and I'm going to use that as an excuse to be a sexy nurse, police officer,  or hooker."  I apologize.  It was much more demure in person.  I think.

The whole crew's photo, taken by the bouncer who really liked to talk to us and give us Halloween candy.

Things were starting to get a bit rowdier here.  Trinity discovered the mask was much more comfortable when worn on the back of one's head.

Oh now we're talking.
I wore my faux rabbit fur.  This lovely stole was purchased and not stolen from the Republic of Bananas like 6 years ago.  Last night was its first showing.

Allison and I got a decent picture here, aside from my dress pooling around my midsection in the most unflattering way.
I know, we'll put on our masks.
"Yes!" said Allison with a cheery grin.
Masks on...

cue the Angry Allison face.

Good lord that is funny.

Robeghan!

Cabs were taken home and fun was had by all!

Treat Yo Self

I have been doing a lot of online shopping lately.  Trinity doesn't think you should buy things unless there is an "occasion."  We disagree on this.  I was feeling guilty until I saw one of my favorite characters, Tom Haverford, encourage me to treat myself.  "Parks and Recreation" has now moved to the very top of my show list.
Enjoy-

Imbibing Adventures

This week I have been enjoying my fall break with a lot of lounging.  I went to the dentist, read a book and attended a few yoga and pilates classes.  When Trinity arrived home on Friday afternoon I was ready to rock the party.  We drove down to Bargersville for some vino at Mallow Run Winery.

The weather was great, so the bartender served outside.

T and I had a little photo session that started with a cheerleader move,
moved straight to a regular eyes on camera shot,
and culminated in a "I'm looking in the horizon, pretending that this $14 bottle of wine hasn't gone straight to my head.  I'm tingling!!!"

My shirt is the area code for Indy, in case you're wondering.  I got it at my yoga studio and liked the looks of it, but really did have to double check the meaning of those digits with Amy, my pal and owner extraordinaire.  She assured me that it was totally  an awesomesauce shirt, and since she was wearing one at the time, I agreed.

On Saturday we traveled to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky to finish up the Bourbon Trail.  As I have mentioned before, we love a good distillery tour.  Here is an old pic from one of our first weekends together, back in February of 2008.  I think this is Jim Beam-

We were unaware of the love that would blossom.  I was aware, however, that I had to get a hold of that man's hair.  It took 2 years, but eventually I conquered Trinity's local weatherman hairstyle.

This photo was taken at Jack Daniels, on the distillery tour back in 2007.  I remember the date because it's printed at the bottom of the picture.  See us in the middle?  Those are the faces of two young pups who had met a mere 22 days earlier, had spent hours on the telephone, and were enjoying their "first date."

That first "date" lasted like 3 days and 2 nights.  My mother wasn't thrilled with that arrangement, but in the interest of full disclosure, I told her.  I let my sister and mother know exactly where he lived, in case he murdered me.
That risk paid off, because that silly man married me.  I highly recommend a first date road trip.  It worked for me.
Anywho...we started the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky in 2008 and went to three distilleries.  3 years later we decided we should go to a couple more.

The building at Four Roses was really cool.

Our tour guide, Agnes, was not.
She was tiny.  I got the barrel in the background for scale.  She also wasn't very engaging.

If smelling mash pits was a full time job, I would apply.  I love that funky smell.
I think I lost an earring in there.

Agnes rocked the tasting room with a drive thru audio system on her head.  She also barely reached over the bar.  When she paused for questions, I raised my hand to ask mine.
"Are you the principal from Kindergarten Cop?"
Seriously, T stopped me.  He said that was inappropriate.

My face says "this is delicious!"  It is so not delicious.
Husband loved it.  He drank my samples.  We switched drivers after that.

It was enthusiasm, not bourbon, that propelled me on to this turkey barrel at Wild Turkey distillery.

Yee haw!!! Gobble gobble gobble.

Nashville Night Out

I finally got some of my besties down to Nashville for a fun little one night trip on Saturday.  Jamie, Allison and I left from my house and rolled onto Broadway a mere 3 hours and 45 minutes later.  Jamie bested my record time to Nashville of 4 hours.  We met sister Katie at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Even after countless trips to Music City, I had never darkened the doors of this fine establishment.  It cost $20 and that bought us the privilege of looking at a lot of rhinestone encrusted cowboy hats and various stage attire donned by famous country crooners.
There was a display with Brad Paisley's suit and Carrie Underwood's dress from the last time they hosted the Country Music Awards.  He is even smaller than she is.  They also had a dress that Leann Rimes wore when she was a wide eyed teenager who sang a killer rendition of Blue.  Now she's a husband stealin', US Weekly cover model with anorexia and a bad set of veneers.  That would make excellent lyrics for a new hit.
We dined at Robert's Western World, my favorite.  Our waitress brought us our food and then immediately hit the stage to sing.  That is yet another reason to love Nashville.  Everyone is working to try to hit it big.

I love this photo.  Dr. Eyes Allison told me that I have larger than average pupils, causing more light to refract and thus giving me creepy coyote eyes in most iPhone flash photos.  Her advice was to look slightly down under the lens as my photo is snapped.  I looked at a lot of  photographer's boobs this weekend instead of directly at the camera, but it didn't seem to work.
Tootsie's Wild Orchid Lounge was filled with Georgia co eds and their Bieber haired boyfriends.  They played Vanderbilt that afternoon.

In the evening we went to my beloved Patterson House for some delicious cocktails pre dinner.  Mine had vodka, grapefruit juice and some other goodness.
Our sushi at Virago was divine.  This picture was sent to our mother.
It was preceded by this rather flattering closed eyes no flash winner-
 and this real knee slapper.

We retired to our hotel to do what most people do after a night out. We did some yoga moves.  It was like break dance fighting, but with yoga moves.  Here is my rather shaky crow, with one foot still yet to take flight-

I naively once thought this was my most awkward sister photo.

Until Katie took this at 6:45 in the morning to send our mother.
We are truly captivating, don't you agree?

We wrapped up our weekend with breakfast at Fido, an automobile tour of Vanderbilt and Belmont, and a good three hours at Green Hills.  As far as purchases, nothing spoke to me.  Except for my mother, requesting a birthday gift.  Mission accomplished.
Nashville=favorite city within 4 hours.

Spring Awakening

We continued our arts patronage last evening.  We are going to many events this year with IndyHub, Miss Molly's young professionals organization.  We are young professionals, indeed!  Actually, I think husband is kinda pushing it.  He's 35.

Speaking of husband, he wasn't in the cooperating mood last night for the obligatory photo shoot.  I whipped out the janky old camera and the orb appeared.  Oooooooooo, it's October and I'm officially spooked out.
This was my first attempt, with T refusing to show anything but the back of his fabulous head.

This was a slight improvement.  I would get rid of the fan pull if I had any photoshopping skills.  Or if I cared.

I finally got to go to the Phoenix Theatre.  It's a fabulous little venue in downtown Indy.

Molly!!!
Curly headed Hautians unite to mesmerize the Indy theatre crowd!  Actually we just chatted and laughed.

The configuration of the theatre was very small and intimate.  Speaking of intimate, the play was very intimate!  It focused on incest, abortion, sex, and suicide.  Wowzers!  There was even a tad bit of nudity.
I am just glad that T and I are such sophisticated theatre goers.  We did not even exchange a silent snicker and chortle when bare buns were exposed.  No we did not.

Running and Blessing

Look at this running guru.
You might recall that Sweet T ran my school district's fundraising 5K race last year in his khaki pants. What a difference a year makes.

This year he was official with an entry number and fancy running attire.  I stayed home and drank my chai tea as the race route brought him running right by our front porch (stoop).
I even filmed him.

You're welcome for my awesome video skills.  Turn your head to see Trinity run.
We went to church after the race for a special animal blessing.  Father Larry had a quick prayer service for St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.  Naturally, we had to take our special little sassafrass to get blessed.

T was worried that Kashmir would make her 2nd great escape, but I knew better.  There were two American Eskimo dogs 2 feet away.  Miss Puss wasn't going anywhere.  She was actually quite calm.

Kashmir got the sign of the cross on her little furry head.

Here we are with the Virgin Mary.  This reminded me of my 1st Communion pose I posted a while ago.  We had a beautiful day to pray that our precious kitty cat lasts another 10 years with us, minus the random pooping on the floor.

Father Larry gave her some kitty treats and she retreated back to her pet taxi.  She had had enough at this point, and mooned us with her furry behind.

I spent the rest of the day visiting with my friend Mandy before she returns to Doha.  We went for a cocktail at our favorite Ball and Biscuit last night.

I broke out the boots.  It's fall, y'all.
