Rookie Mom Move and a First Communion

I pulled the ultimate rookie mom move on Saturday.  I took my 2 1/2 year old to the movie theatre.  My dear friend, Sarah, mother of 4, tried to talk me out of it.
"She's too young."
I have selective hearing.
Now I must say I really just wanted her to see Frozen Fever, the 10 minute movie that was showing before Cinderella, which was like an hour and 45 minutes long.  I had hopes that we could make it through some of Cinderella, since I wanted to see it.
When we arrived at 10:15 the theatre was empty.
I headed to the final row up against the wall so they could be no chair rocking.
I had an arsenal of snacks, (snuck in the theatre in honor of my Nanny, who refused to ever pay those prices!)
G wore her Elsa dress and pearls.
Yes, pearls.

Taking in her surroundings.

Getting comfy with snacks and Minnie.

Right as the Frozen Fever started, 4 people came in.
Damn the luck!
I thought we were home free.
She sat perfectly still for that 10 minute darling film.
Then Cinderella started.
The antics started with standing.  Then running to the end of our row and back.  Then before I knew it she was running hot laps down the stairs in front of the screen and back up the stairs on the other side.
And Scene.
I snagged our stuff and we were out of there.  Best 20 minutes of mother-daughter bonding time ever.
Sarah was so right.

Next on our agenda was Charlotte's 1st Communion soiree.
I still have fond memories of mine, so I knew this was a big day for her.
G knew there was cake.

She danced in honor of our new communion recipient.

Then she ate every bite of that cake.
It was pink ombre with a floral pattern down the side.
Way to rock the Pinterest trend, Jamie.
It was so pretty and delicious.

Wednesday evening YaYa rolled into town for a midweek sleepover.
G directed YaYa to write lots of names.

On Thursday YaYa took care of my weeds with a little help from Lady Genevieve.

They ended their visit on Thursday evening with a little coloring.
YaYa hit 465 around 6 p.m. and made it home in a jiffy.

Trinity runs the big Mini Marathon this weekend, so updates on that soon.

Bob is 67!

Last Friday started with a bang as BFF Marinda and I had our annual school spring pictures taken.
This year we felt faux fur was necessary.

This one was on the photographer's computer screen, but I snapped a pic before there could be any arguments about copyright laws!

Genevieve spent the weekend with YaYa and Bob to celebrate his birthday.
They went to St. Mary's of the Woods college for their Earth Day celebration and G discovered a love of ponies.

The alpacas were a hit too.
My dream of having my own alpaca farm while Trinity owns a bicycle shop could one day be a reality.
G can sell fudge.

During G's Earth day fun, I had the perfect day of yoga, shopping, getting my hair did, and taking a nap.  I skipped lunch and ate one, I mean 2 Blondie's cookies in lieu of a balanced meal.
I can't resist those frosted sugar cookies.

We dined like fancy grownups at Spoke and Steele.  The decor was very Mad Men.  I would of course want to be Joan.  Joan is a *itch, but she gets stuff done.  Betty is just a *itch.  Peggy is annoying.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch YaYa, G and Caroline were doing their best posed sleeping.
Except for YaYa.  Pretty sure she's out.

The morning included Starbucks and stable play.  My kid probably wants to live on a farm now.  The only farm equipment we own are      matching pink rubber wellie boots and I don't think those count.

Cake was enjoyed by all, mostly me.

There were presents for the birthday Bob.

Please note the Lilly Pulitzer for Target romper Caroline has on.  Her Aunt Bee (me) had no clue that I was entering a trial by combat by stepping into Target on Sunday morning.  Carts flying, carts filled to the brim, people bargaining and trading.
Uh, no thanks.
I'll pay a little more on the Lilly website and avoid the battle wounds.

Happy Birthday to Bob!!!!

We Run! Sort of

I spend a lot of time hunting for things to do around Indy, so that my kid is somewhat well rounded.  On Friday night I found that Butler University was having a Family 5K race with activities.
Those activities included a 4 and under race.
I was sold.
I registered Trinity since he's all fancy and tracks all his runs on his watch and is always looking for more arch support, etc.

I shocked him at the registration table where he got his number.

G requested a rainbow on her hand and a star on her face.
I fondly thought of Starbrite, one of my favorite characters .

Then it was time to pick out a balloon animal.

This guy was no amateur.  I was stunned by his creations.

Genevieve got Ariel, whose beautiful mermaid tail would be severed mere moments later.

The speed demon took off and G and I just started strolling a bit on the race trail.  We passed these darling college girls who were directing people on the path and they told me I was doing a good job.
I guffawed and explained that we weren't official race participants, but were just killing time until we could meet T at the finish line.
One of the girls, who could possibly be the Diana Berry to my Anne Shirley, said "Just act like you're running and we'll take some action shots!"
Don't mind if I do!

Ariel survived our 30 second run.

Unfortunately, her lower appendages did not survive G's very heavy footed ways.
She dropped her and stumble stomped on her, smooshing a large flat green balloon onto the concrete.
She rallied quickly.  We were seconds from the kids' race.

T pumped her up with tips and tried to transfer his 7:25 mile pace to the 75 feet she was able to conquer.

I shan't include the video.  She ran like the wind next to me and then about 30 feet in she  started screaming and crying.  She told me her stomach hurt.
I understand.  That usually happens to me a few minutes into a run.
I think it was the banana and 2 munchkin donut holes she downed 5 minutes earlier from her father's choice of snacks.

I got her to rally and finish the race.  There was a guy who told her that she was a winner and gave her a fancy ribbon, and suddenly the pain was gone and happiness was restored.

Trinity ran a great race at 23 min 30 seconds.  I instagrammed and I left off those 30 seconds.  I was kinda embarrassed about how slow he was.  Nonsense!  I forgot the 30 seconds.

Easter Sunday 2015

Eddie and Patsy spent the night on Saturday and we were up and ready to roll for mass on Sunday morning.

We met my parents at our church, so we had 6 adults in the pew ready to corral our sassy girl.
She did really well, listened, and also colored and stickered up a book.

We ponied up for another picture with my side of the crew.

YaYa tried to get G to notice her Easter basket in the yard.

Bob helped with her Frozen tennis shoes that we in her basket.  He put them on wrong and there were some tears involved.

Grill Master Rob took over grilling asparagus, burgers and brats.  Trinity stood and enjoyed a beer while Robby worked.

Megan and her mother Carol helped with the asparagus prep.

Trinity directed the egg hunt.  Uncle Kent and Aunt Cindi were visiting too.  I didn't get a picture of them.  We had such a fancy day!

Easter Egg Hunt and Abby and Papi Arrive

Two little bunnies were ready to roll at 9:00 for the Easter Egg Hunt at our church.
We wore our matching pink boots, G had on her bunny hat, and I wore sequined bunny ears the entire morning.
You're not surprised.

And we're off! The hunt started immediately after we snarfed down some doughnuts in the cafeteria.
The rule was to only get 10 eggs, but our determined girl did not understand that rule.  We just kept letting her put eggs in her basket and then Trinity would take one out and throw it over his shoulder back into the mix.
I would  have preferred  he rolled those eggs down his pant leg back onto the football field.  After all, that's how Andy Dufrene finally escaped Shawshank, shaking piles of pebbles bit by bit out out his pant leg.  It was subtle.  I think T almost winged some eggs off of people's heads.

This was as close as she would get to the bunny.

She got a bunny face.

She picked out a large butterfly tattoo.  What a deep metaphor tattoo that is.  I pray she won't have a butt hat butterfly tattoo at age 17 because of how much "she's grown, and changed."

Abby and Papi arrived and got some Easter treats.

G hit the mother load with treats from Abby, Papi, and Aunt Shirley.

More Easter fun tomorrow.
