House Progress and Weekend

Operation Move is in full swing.  It is going slowly.  T is planning on moving us with a UHAUL and himself.  Our friend Mark did some serious painting this past week.  Here is one of the guest rooms.  That would be "restrained gold." Mark didn't think there was much restrained about that gold.  Alas, you know me and color!

This is the other guest room, painted in "rainwashed."  It was a tad more subtle.
Trinity decided to move out of his storage unit by himself on Saturday morning.  He used his friend, dolly.  Somehow, by the grace of God, he completed this feat unscathed.
I decided to pack up my new sequin overnighter and head home to my parents' house for the weekend.  We also have no shortage of Crate and Barrel boxes around here-

Katie, Robby and my mother came by to peek at the house after school on Friday.  They brought us Flying Cupcakes to toast our new habitat!

I am ashamed at how often I patronize that place.
In case you're confused, I do mean that I am a regular patron of that business.
I don't talk down to, or act like I'm better than those delectable cups of batter and frosting.
Just so we're clear.
After toasting the house with sugar we drove to see Katie's college besties at Bonefish Grill for dinner.
These are all attractive women in their early 30s, not a pack of wild coyotes as their eyes might indicate.

My weekend in TH was great.  I followed Finny around, as I have a tendency to do.

He was easy to catch in this box.

We took Caroline to a birthday party.  Kathy, photogger and high school chum, threw a knight themed party for 2 of her 3 boys.  We took Nolan with us.
He didn't have a partner for the balloon game, so I had to help.

I love this.
I love that child.
Cutest kid ever!

I will post more house progress when we actually make any.

Closing!!!!

This is the face of a man who now owns two homes.  We closed on our new home on Friday.  We then celebrated with lunch and another trip to the most overpriced furniture store in Indianapolis, Kittles.  Yippeee!!!!

Smile, you are now lord of the land and will be spending the next 30 years paying for your new house.

The lord of the land strolled with a $95 walking stick.  He might have walked with this as we checked out beds.

We bought a king bed.  I now feel like I've arrived, people.

Trinity and I got the keys on Sunday and loaded up the truck with oodles of Crate and Barrel boxes that had been occupying our garage since our wedding festivities.

*If it appears that I am always wearing these brown velour Juicy Couture pants with a bleach stain, don't be alarmed.  I am always wearing these brown velour Juicy Couture pants with a bleach stain.

I unloaded about 12 dozen glasses.  This is not an exaggeration.  I unpacked 4 boxes and have at least twice that at home.  I predict Robeghan might be getting some glasses.  Tacky?  You betcha.

Look at that Corningware!  It was like a private wedding shower with just us.

Everyone needs a chocolate fondue fountain.  We have one.  Thanks, Karen.  She knows me well.  Picture me sprawled out on the kitchen floor melting Nestle semisweet morsels and lapping them up with my tongue.  Nice.

Trinity got seriously annoyed with my picture taking.  I argued that we would only move into our first house together once.  Until we move into our first house with our new spouses.  Oh, I kid.

He got snarky and took a picture of me climbing in the tub.  That's embarrassing.  That's why I posted it!

Step one:  Lower 71" of woman into tub.

Fetal it so you appear to be only 65" of woman.

Relax and show the teeth that prove you are really a Windsor and the long lost sister of Prince William.

Since he didn't take me for a wife, I will settle for sibling.

There were lots of boxes-

This mixer/blender caused a lot of emotion.

We unwrapped this from its original packaging, circa 1970 something.
It belonged to our beloved Uncle Maurice.
Cue the tears.

When we start to move in, we will bless our home with Uncle Maurice's holy water from the Basilica of Lourdes in France.  Many miracles have occurred there.
We are so thrilled to start the moving process.

Happenings of Late

I haven't blogged this week because nothing has been going on in our lives.
Except cat yoga

and Kashmir has been spending copious amounts of time in the bathroom.  She continues to be quite odd.

On Saturday we visited the NCAA Hall of Fame here in Indy.  They had interactive exhibits.
T skied.
 and rifled.
I stuck to swimming.

My greatest sporting regret is not pursuing swimming as a sport in high school.  I would have been way better than I was at basketball and volleyball.  It is not possible that I could have been worse.

T posed with The Flying Wedge.  It was a military strategy that was used in football until it was outlawed due to severe danger and injuries.  Essentially the men formed a battering ram.
Fascinating.  Now you learned something from my blogging.

On Sunday we rode the Mega Bus to Chicago for the night.  You read that correctly.  I rode a public bus.  I actually loved it.  It was very convenient and we didn't have to fool with parking.
We started our visit with a trip to the American Girl Store.  I had to pick up a Goldendoodle for my sweet friend, Camille.

The lady at Tory Burch knew what was up and gave Trinity an iPad to tinker with as I shopped for overpriced medallions.  That stuff is expensive, but I must praise their customer service and quality products.  They helped me tremendously when I bought the wrong size of loafers for Jane.  Long story...

We shopped and putzed and got ready for dinner.
I sported some heavy beading.

*note the door, as it comes into play later.

We met Kate and her boyfriend Scott for drinks and dinner at Bandera.

When we got back to our hotel room at The Wit, we encountered what could only be described as a house party in the adjoining room next door.  Those people were ready to rock it.  Crazy, I'm telling you.  It was 10:30 and old girl was ready for bed and they were playing some loud ass rap.  Of course, I called security.

After the security visit, they may or may not have opened their adjoining door and messed with our door.  Fearing a potential knifing, we moved across the hotel and were upgraded to this suite-

It featured a stunning view of the river and $50 in breakfast vouchers for our inconvenient experience.  The moral of this tale...it always pays to complain.

I creatively arranged some pops of yellow on the nightstand.  My new wallet matched the key perfectly.  Color continues to be my friend!

Robby's 31st

Brother Robby turned 31 yesterday.  5 months each year we are only one year apart, but of course there are really 17 months between us. Enough math, let's party!

Meghan planned a little party that was supposed to start in their home and end in a bar.  We never made it out of their house.

Allison was seriously attached to some Pinot-

I said, "just belt it and cinch it!"

The best part of the night could only be described as a performance of Vaudeville variety by Robby and his oldest friends.
Robby, Jason, Robby's first friend in Kindergarten, Casey, a latecomer who joined the group in the 6th grade, and Caleb, Robby's friend from pre-school.

They know each other quite well and therein lies the hilarity.  I believe as I snapped this they were giving Jason a bit of grief for liking Ashlee Simpson's music, which he proudly admitted and owned his admiration for her.

Casey and Pat took a brief  respite from shots of Dr. McGillicuddy's Peppermint Schnapps, which was quite popular.

Happy birthday to Robby, who is working his way well into his 30s!

New Year Excitement

Things have really been not so exciting recently.  We sat on our duffs and were asleep by 10:45 on New Year's Eve.  I loved it and regretted that decision not one bit.  I went back to school today and squeezed a lot of children.  I had a chuckle today thinking about my "career."  I know it is indeed a career, and a very distinguished one at that, but today I passed a person walking down the hallway with one pair of soiled khaki pants in her hand while wearing an ill fitting pair of khakis and a slightly embarrassed look on her face.
How many people can say that?
Granted, she was probably 7 years old, but this is a typical occurrence in my world.  It seems like someone is always shatting his or her pants or having some kind of accident.  Another kid vomited chocolate milk about 6 feet from me this morning.
Welcome back to elementary land.

Do you watch Downton Abbey?
I'm a little tardy to the party on this one, but I love it.
I watched all of season one on Netflix this past week.

Those Brits are pretty.
I attended an uber exclusive screening of season 2's first episode last night.  Ha!
We went to WFYI last night with other members of WFYI's British Telly Club.

I only have this picture.
That's me in the green shirt with Robeghan attached to one another next to me.  Masterpiece Classics make them all gooey and romantic.

Everyone else in the British Telly Club is at least 65.  We stood out a little as hip young Anglophiles.

In other news this past week...
T wasted gobs of time entering to win a car at the mall.  He never met a free giveaway that he didn't like.

My man, my kitty, my pashmina and my velour pants canoodled and napped together.

Kashmir prepared for some yoga.
I find her staring endlessly in the oddest places.  Lately she stares at the edge of the bathtub.  When I found her calmly sitting at the end of my yoga mat, I fancied her meditating.  It's far more likely that she's going blind.

I loved that our church was still decorated for Christmas this past Sunday.
That altar cloth is hand beaded and would make the most fabulous Gatsby style dress.
I added "lusting and plotting to steal altar cloth to fashion into a dress" to my list of sins to be forgiven.

Happy 2012.
