100 Days Of School and Haircuts

We celebrated 100 days of school last Wednesday by dressing up as 100 year old women.

The first grade team graciously accepted me back into the fold since I don't have a classroom.  I do miss my 1st grade days!
I was the 100 year old cat lady and I wore Grumpy Cat in a Baby Bjorn all day.

I answered the same typical question all day.
"Is that a real cat?"
Le duh.
I clearly have not prepared you all for life, let alone standardized testing!
Oh, I jest!
Marinda looked pretty old a**.

On Thursday G gallivanted off to daycare and YaYa picked her up.

G is the oldest in her group and was kicked out of her crib.  My mom took this photo of her sleeping on a cot.

Sniff, sniff.
My baby looks so grown up.
She also looks like she is in a Red Cross emergency shelter.
I promise I take her to a nice place.

She was eager to leave with YaYa.  She quickly packed up her things.

Naturally, they drove straight to Target.
This is one of the ONLY photos I have where my child isn't sucking down oxygen with her mouth hanging open.

And scene!
Back to mouth breathing.

That red jacket was selected by moi as I was completely unaware of an impending Target run with my mom.
I'm glad she wasn't wearing khakis or someone might have asked her to take care of a clean up in aisle nine.

I was busy attending training for school, which involved a lunch time jaunt to Nordstrom, where I accessorized with a cat lady mask.

On Saturday morning Genevieve's mullet was no more.

There was wailing and also a bit of teeth gnashing.

But now there is no party in the back.  It's all business.

It has been an exciting week.

More Snow and Cold

The horrible snow and cold continues, and this sassy little blog is suffering from lack of content. We have had several days of 2 hour delays at school, which makes for a wonky day.  G Funk was all set in her boots for daycare on Friday.

I had to change her outfit.
Those pants were indecent.

I did not leave the house all weekend.  This weather is turning me into a recluse.
We ventured out on Sunday evening to Panera for dinner.  T staged this for my mother's benefit.

She is constantly worried that Genevieve is going to choke.  So we gave her a large chunk of bread.

On Monday morning we had a 2 hour delay again, and I took G to the doctor.  We double-bowed it for the occasion.

One bow to represent each infected ear.

Good grief.  We will be visiting the ENT doctor, or the otolaryngologist, as I prefer to call him.
Perhaps we can check in as a packaged deal.  G can get tubes and I'll get new sinuses.

G had her first dose of medicine and took a 3 1/2 hour nap.

When she woke up she was all coked up and went nanners , grew hairy horns and moved her kitchen around.
See the above video.

Today we did not have school due to extreme ice.  I went to yoga and King David's Hot Dogs for a chicken hot dog.
KD's is only open Monday-Friday so I was giddy.

I resorted to taking a selfie with a hot dog.

2 Weekends in One Post

I am combining the last 2 weekends in one post due to lack of excitement and/or photos.  Last Friday we went out for Robby's 33rd birthday.  We went to our favorite spot, H2O Sushi.
I didn't take any photos there, but I received this prize from supper sitter, Ashleigh.
This was G's face pre-Grumpy Cat and post-Grumpy Cat.
Ashleigh had the audacity to take GC away so Genevieve could eat!
Genevieve was not happy.
Joy was restored when that feline was returned.
GC now accompanies us most places.

We went to the Children's Museum in Columbus last Saturday.

She filled up a grocery cart and pushed it around.  Just like at home. Not really worth the price of admission.

Although her face during father-daughter bubble making was pretty funny.

This is our typical Saturday morning scene.
I prepare Dunkin' Donuts Medium roast for Trinity and a little organic 2% for G.  Then we enjoy some Sesame Street.

Saturday evening we received some special house guests.  Abby and Papi came for the night and YaYa and Bob dropped off Big Boy Puss.  He is staying through the week.

Kashmir and Finn have been engaged in some serious kitty wrestling.  Kashmir weighs in at about 7 1/2 lbs, Finn at about 20 lbs.
I spy an unfair advantage.

The white fur tufts have been rolling across the hardwoods like tumbleweed.  Also they don't call it caterwauling for nothing.  Finny is screeching a lot.  Mostly at 3 a.m.

Our other house guests were a lot more pleasant.
Abby and G spent a lot of time with their books.  Abby also reorganized the playroom.  She loves to organize.  I embrace disorder.  We are somewhat opposites in that way.

They stayed with G on Saturday night so we could go out, child free. We are always grateful for a fun visit. I'm embarrassed to say we went to Cracker Barrel and Target.  Talk about exciting.  I cannot lie, though.  Eating apple butter in peace and leisurely strolling those aisles were delightful.

On Sunday evening we took our lady out to Bazbeaux.  I had a delicious champagne cocktail with my pizza.  It gave me a slight buzz.  This proved beneficial when my daughter grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked on it as we packed up to leave.

It was a scene.
It seems we make many these days.
I was tearful and sinking to my knees as my husband meticulously unwrapped each toddler finger from my hair.
G cackled maniacally as other patrons watched in horror.
What a performance!

Snow Days!

So we have been snowed in since last Saturday.  Before we hunkered down, Genevieve tried out jeans.

We met my parents and Robby and Meghan to celebrate Robby's birthday a smidge early.

YaYa enjoyed train time at Barnes and Noble.

While the ladies were in the bookstore, the men folk loaded up our car with G's presents from Christmas.
We have spent the last 3 days playing with new toys.

Kitty and Camilla have spent some quality time in her new shopping cart.

Twinsies are always cranky.

G Funk messed up her ABC mat big time.  Her father put it back together in the wrong order.

Genevieve has been watching a lot of PBS from the comfort of her cozy chair.

I have watched the first 2 seasons of Scandal on Netflix.  29 episodes from Thursday until Wednesday.  That's a bit embarrassing.  Olivia Pope is amazing.

We affirmed again that we don't like snow.

Our house is covered in that powdery prettiness.

I haven't been to school in almost 3 weeks.  I'm ready to go back and see my little munchkins!

Christmas Celebration Numero Tres

The day after Christmas we came home to visit the pediatrician.  After the ear infection diagnosis, we hit the pharmacy and drove to see my in-laws and Aunt Shirley on Thursday evening.
We awoke on Friday morning to Christmas again!
Abby's theme this year was a Woodland Christmas, so her tree had lots of woodland creatures, pinecones, and other flora and fauna of the outdoors.
She also put out cookies and milk for Santa, along with a note to Santa from Genevieve.
She misspelled G's name on the note.
That mother in law of mine!
She likes a good joke.

Abby passed out gifts.

Aunt Shirley was greatly entertained by the many animals that accompanied us.

The tissue paper and boxes were the best gifts of all.

Pebbles helped with all of the pretty packages.

This star was actually part of a gift box.  Or was it a toy?
We conferred with Shirl on that one.

T received a bottle of Woodford Reserve with his name engraved on it.

Abby and Papi gave G a beautiful handmade sweater from Nicaragua that they bought at the Latin Festival.

Abby insisted that we hit up the Stride Rite for a proper shoe fitting.  G is a 5 1/2 Wide.  Mother of the year had her in size 4 shoes.  I'm into foot binding, it seems.
Geesh.
Talk about feeling like a fabulous parent.

G wasn't sure about the diagnosis of "wide."

Although my feet are big, they are narrow.
Skis, if you will.
Alas, I will claim this fat footed baby.

Our time at Stride Rite ended abruptly after G decided to smack a 4 year old girl in the store.
Luckily, her mother was at the register and did not witness the event.
I hightailed it out of there with my Brunhilda.
Aggressive babies are so embarrassing.
