Kashmir's Sire

Kitty silliness was in full swing this week.  Special K spent a lot of time napping on our bed.
She has also found a new spot to get her stare on.  She gazes endlessly into the shower.  A friend mentioned that she might be able to see herself.  Brilliant!  I never would have thought of that.
K has been struggling with her allergy issues and has been working on gnawing off her hind quarters and lady bits as if she has been caught in a trap in the woods somewhere.
She is going to a new vet on Tuesday.
I started hunting through my papers for her medical records and discovered her official Cat Fancier's Association paperwork.
Special K will be 13 in May.
Her true name is Princess Kashmir of Allendale.
She was conceived in a fit of fur balling between one Abby Belle Princess and New Way Rocky Bo VanDamm.
Her father, aka sire, was named after some serious action stars.  He must have been one tough kitty.
I need only think of his name and I collapse into fits of snorts.

I found this darling picture on my phone.

We busted out the grill this weekend.  I sat outside wrapped in a blanket and read InStyle while T worked.

Sunday we went to church and then hosted a little grilling session with my parents and Rob and Meghan.
I can't even explain how wonderful it is to have this new house with outdoor entertaining space.

I've always been entertaining.
Now I can do it outside.

Lastly, my precious little abode now has new residents.

sniff, sniff.
Thanks to Craig's List we had a slew of people who wanted my first home within  a few short hours.
A new family is moving in this week.
They are thrilled with it and are so excited to rent my home as they save for their own.

It makes me misty eyed.  I bought that house on my own and I will always remember that feeling.
Now someone else will build a life there.
Bittersweet!

Law School Prom

Yesterday was my favorite kind of Saturday.  Yoga, shopping, nap, sushi.  Meghan and I started our day with a free yoga class at the Keystone Lululemon.  I do enjoy creeping into the mall before it's open and getting my downward dog on among lots of overpriced yet amazing sweat proof gear.
I didn't want to look like a creeper, so I didn't take a photo.
I lucked out and made the Lulu Facebook page.
Meg and I are just to the right of the instructor.  She's in stripes and I'm in ninja black.
Orangutan arms, Betsy?  Yes.
I think I'm offering up my usual intention in boat pose.
Please don't fart.
Speaking of, there were donkey kicks completed in this class.
Successfully.
No natural gases emitted.
Thank you, Jesus.

I then obnoxiously shopped while wearing yoga pants.  Only I did feel slightly less obnoxious because I had just done yoga.  I am biased and judge those who wear the pants and aren't doing any exercise.  That's when you utilize old ass Juicy pants. You know, the ones that are 8 years old, have long lost the drawstring and have a totally different texture on the butt from where the velour has worn down from couch sitting.  Get with it, women.

I bought a life changing product.  A Clarisonic Mia is my new best pal.  I really don't take good care of my face, aside from daily sunscreen wear.  Most nights I don't wash my face.  Gasp!  Skank!
I've decided to mend my ways as I quickly approach 33.  Mia is going to help me do just that.  My facial at Nordstrom made me feel as though I was headed out to Kilroy's for my 21st birthday.  Youthful.  Vibrant.  Ready to drink.  You get the idea.
I can't wait to start using it, but she must charge for 24 hours before the first use.  She better be battle ready.

I also made a successful purchase for husband.
I bought seersucker shorts and he was okay with them.

I promise he won't start popping his collar, growing out Bieber hair or wearing his sunglasses on the back of his head like some of those southern d bags.  He's just going to sip iced tea in them.
He put them on amidst the carnage of trying to install his Bose speaker system.  That's going to require holes in my brand new walls, and deafening sound.  He loves it.

He also loves Murray State.  That boy is crazy for his Racers.  They've only lost one game and are sure to make the tournament.  He is most excited about his alma mater.

While installation was in full swing, I took a 2 hour nap with the cat.

Katie, Chip and Li'l C came to town to see the Monster Truck Jam.  Chip took Caroline to this most lady like event.  Katie met us at Robeghan's for their pre law school prom photo session.

To be married in September...

This is horribly unflattering, but I am posting it anyway.  Robby looks good, but apparently Katie and I are auditioning for IRT's production of Peter Pan.
Smee and TinkerBell at your service.

Pat was there for the party too.

Katie, T and I met up with Tim, Jamie and Allison at H2O for a fabulous 3 hour sushi extravaganza.
Fabulous night, fabulous people!

Still Very Little Excitement

The most noteworthy events of the past week are as follows:

Sweet T rocked it as a 5th grade Science Fair Judge.
I love it when he comes to school.  He looks so out of place and it cracks me up.

He was serious about checking those hypotheses.

Tim and Jamie brought the darlings and came down to visit our new house.  We had pizza and watched the Oscar red carpet fashion.  Actually, only Jamie and I did that.

Charlotte did a lot of this.

Liam was too quick for a camera shot, so I didn't get one.
He left evidence of his presence everywhere.

He was obsessed with Kashmir, which I'm sure she totally appreciated.
He also managed to break the tail off of Trinity's heinous mermaid.
Thank you, Liam.
That was awesome.

The weather has been great, and we have been doing hot laps around our new hood.
We have sidewalks in our neighborhood.
Our old hood did not.
Damn, we have moved on up.

Stand like Captain America.
Ready, set, walk like the wind.
We really need to do something exciting.

Hello, My friend, Hello...

What's been up with me, you ask?
Husband came through with roses on Valentine's Day, delivered to work.  Good move.
I rewarded him by bringing home the candy that I received from party crashing nearly every classroom on Tuesday afternoon.
He was particularly fond of this fabulous s'more like treat.  Someone's mother probably enjoys Pinterest, with such a clever idea.
Creepy cat eyes was jealous.

This week we had our 5th grade wax museum, the culminating project after extensive research, report and speech writing.
The children researched either American presidents or famous Americans.
They designed and created their own costumes, which I loved.

I don't remember who these guys were, but their staches were awesome.

I snapped pictures of some of the younger children who enjoyed the presentations.

I love this one, of 2 precious 2nd graders.
I do feel lucky to be a part of these sweet moments.

The last couple of weeks have been rough.  I have been ridiculously ill and cranky.  I had a sinus infection (my specialty) and then a cough that could make anyone within earshot scatter for fear of contagion.  There were days I felt I might succumb to illness, much like that homely Lavinia Swire.
I just finished Downton Abbey last night.
Love, love, love that show.

Mom, Dad and Robeghan came yesterday afternoon to help around the house.  Brother Rob styled my house.  He is kind of like Jeff Lewis with his artsy fartsy little self.
He moved Jane and we decided this little sitting area would be the midcentury corner.

The office for all of my clerical needs is up and running.  Mother tried like crazy to abscond with that globe, but I trumped her.  I rather like it.

I hope to return with more regular ridiculousness now that I am somewhat healed from the Spanish Flu.
I hope to incorporate blogging back into my regular schedule, along with yogacizing, cupcaking, and napping.

Naples Trip

First of all, I have been watching The Voice.  I had heard a lot of hype about this show, so I have been trying it out.  I'm not that entertained by the singing.  The judges are catching my eye.
Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are quite fetching.  I love a rocker in skinny jeans who weighs less than me and a tall ass country crooner.
I swoon.
However, it might just be this character that gets my full attention.

What in the name of all that is holy is wrong with this man?
Those teeth.
Those tiny hands stroking that captive Persian.
I can't get enough.

Enough of that reality TV business.  I've been an absentee from this most exciting form of social media due to a short trip to Naples with Jamie.  Tim couldn't go due to his work schedule, so I stepped in as mother's little helper.

I'll start with a video.
We went to the Naples Zoo and they had 3 Honey Badgers.  Those things were active.  We thought we were hilarious.

Liam is 2.
I learned a lot about 2 year old boys this past week.
They like Capri Suns and dinosaurs.
We had one glorious day at the beach.

I remained sedentary and once again practiced my foot modeling skills.  I don't know why I always put my hoof in there at the last minute.  Perhaps to prove I was there.

No vacation is complete without a trip to a local cupcakery.

Charlotte just licks off the icing.  What a waste.  Everyone who is older than 4 knows that the cake is the best part.

Naples in the evening is quite idyllic.  Lights, fountains and a boat load of retirees illuminated the night sky.

The zoo offered us some rare opportunities, such as giraffe feeding.

They like Romaine, not iceberg lettuce.
This is Naples, people.

Jamie and her brood rode a camel.
$15=59 seconds on a camel.
The deals abounded in southern Florida.

Well worth the fun.

Jamie and I went out for a nice dinner, thanks to her mother in law, Kay.
Kay took this fabulous picture before we left.
This was taken just as Charlotte decided to stick her hand up my dress and give me a Grade-A goosing.
The shock was well captured.

This was followed by a brief talk with her mother about not sticking hands up people's dresses.

She exited this photo op, deciding that sans goosing photos were no fun.

Lastly, we went to a fabulous outdoor mall.

Nordstrom next to palm trees is heaven, I say!

Pug Funny

I find this to be outrageously hilarious.

The Epic Move Continues...

The move that is lasting longer than The Civil War continues.  Trinity moved out of his storage unit last Saturday, so this week has included many little stops by the house to settle a few things here and there.  My mother was kind enough to bring her fabulous cleaning lady to clean my house.
Mom and Janice spent a day cleaning my floors, cabinets, baseboards and trim.
Those little surfaces better relish that experience.
I didn't  even know you were supposed to clean those spaces.
You live and learn.
We stopped by the house and found that my mom had "styled" the fireplace.

She set up my most favoritist piece of art ever.
Allow me to introduce you to Jane-
She's amazing!
That would be my mother's portrait at age 12.
My always hip Nanny took her prepubescent daughter with a seriously bad haircut to sit for a portrait back in the day.
Jane posed for a local art student and this was the result.
Who knew that 50 years later that portrait would grace my mantel?

It might not be everyone's taste, but it's mine.
Quite chic in my opinion, and I love her!

My husband has been overly jubilant as he unpacks his loot that has been holed up since April of 2010.
I had forgotten about a lot of his decor.
Palm trees and monkeys are a running theme throughout his home items.

I set up some of it by the tub-

thus immediately transforming our bathroom into a Tommy Bahama button down shirt.

This little beauty is a personal favorite of mine

Terrifying.
Trinity claims she is a mermaid, but I think she is one of the Sirens that lured sailors with their songs and then drowned them.
She might give me nightmares.

I might let her live in this tree light...

like one of the Keebler elves.
That is a lamp/sculpture.
Jealous?

Poor Sweet T is such fodder for my blog.  He is always such a good sport about it.
He was thrilled to find his cuckoo clock.

He got it in Germany, so I'll embrace it as a memento from some of his wonderful travels.

Lastly, I downloaded a new app for my phone.
It's called CatPaint.

It allows you to add cats to any of your photos.

Now I know what you're thinking.
Betsy, you always have cats in your photos.
True.
Although there are times when a cat would be lovely, but isn't socially acceptable.

For instance, we celebrated Robeghan's engagement out in Broad Ripple.
You know who couldn't attend?
Their ridiculously affectionate and obese cat, Ziggy.

I fixed that tonight.
The cats can also shoot lasers if that appeals to you.
You can thank me later.
