Cat Selfies

I took Genevieve home to stay with my parents last weekend.  Right before I went to sleep, I spied some of my senior pictures hanging in all of their glory.
I got a good chuckle admiring my love of PansyJune.  She was my prop for a series of shots.
I was so trendy and cool to pose with my cat.

I tried to recreate that coolness with a pajama/bathroom selfie with Kashmir.
I love how she looks all pensive and smart here.

Genevieve went shopping with YaYa.
I bought the outfit she's modeling.
I'm well aware that she looks as though she has lost her sheep.
She stayed one night with YaYa and Bob so I could host my besties.  Kate and Megan visited for the evening.  They brought their menfolk, but they are not pictured.

It was our first visit since Kate's wedding in November.  We went out for tacos and margaritas, and Meg brought a key lime cake.  It was divine.  I chuckled over this picture.  It's a good thing I'm secure with my size, because my tiny friends make me look like a behemoth.

In other family news, G decided she likes lemons.

Lastly, we Catholics are back to meatless Fridays during Lent.

G had popcorn shrimp for our geriatric 4:30 family dinner at the Bonefish Grill.

As talented as she is, she can color and work on her vocabulary words while popping shrimp in her mouth.

That's a pig, G.
We can't eat that today.

Cupcake Date

Guess who is doing better during daycare morning drop off?
This cupcake.

Genevieve's transition to the toddler room has not been without its fair share of drama.  She has been crying, flinging herself on the floor and I start my day at school all teary eyed.  She started doing better at the end of last week and I was so proud.

On Sunday we ventured out between the blasts of snow to our beloved Flying Cupcake.
Genevieve was intrigued by all of the pretties and ignored me.

Until I started cooing the word "cupcake."
What you have there, Momma?

Pitter pat squeaked those little rain boots as she ran towards me for a bite.

In two seconds flat she was in my lap, ready to share.
We split one and Trinity was sure to capture a photo with the essence of Betsy.
That sounds like a perfume.
Sadly, the essence of Betsy is cupcake gobbling that leaves my eyes glazed over in a sugary bliss.

G wore her Margot Tenenbaum coat.

She had the hair clippy too, but I decided to forgo the black eyeliner and cigarettes.

I started my week as The Cat in the Hat for Dr. Seuss day at school.

I visited each kindergarten and 1st grade classroom, and loved all of their comments.  The most common was "You're the Cat in the Hat!" I never tire of their Captain Obvious comments.  They are the cutest.

Fun with Our Li'l Lady

We bought a membership to the Children's Museum last Saturday. It was once again voted the best museum for kids in the country, so  that put me over the edge for the purchase.
They have an area called Playscapes that is geared for toddlers, and G loves it.
She wore this little dragonfly vest for a bit.

Then she practiced her stacking skills.

T and G made magical music together.

We ladies rode the carousel.  Now, I'll admit I had a Patsy Ramsay moment here.  Trinity was all like, "she's too young for that."  And I was like, "She'll love it.  Plus I want a picture."  Well, we selected our horse and my child then proceeded to softly whimper/cry as we waited like 2 hours for the stupid thing to actually start.  There was a huge line of people waiting for their turn who witnessed the whole thing.
My child was kinda miserable.
I was kinda determined.
And embarrassed.
Every couple of minutes I would loudly proclaim, "If you still don't like it once it starts, we'll sit on the bench behind us."
See, I'm not a monster, people.

The music commenced and so did the clapping and giggles.
I was redeemed.
My vision for amazing pictures did not come to fruition.

Annie Leibowitz, he is not.

Our ride was cut short due to some fool middle schooler who refused to sit down, even at the 3 behests of the carousel lady.
Respect her authority, dammit.
She would only stand up when her parents couldn't see her.
So we all suffered.
Carousel lady got her revenge though.
She marched that kid right over to her parents.
Take that, dumb kid!
I want my dollar back for this shortened ride.
Even though it was free with my new membership.
I still want a dollar.
I imagine there is no fate worse than teaching middle school.

Anyway, this little girl who wasn't the carousel crasher served us pretend tea.

My posture makes me look like a Ninja Turtle.

G tried to wear 4 coats to school last week.  Her father helped her put them on like we aren't in a rush every morning.

Then she got in her Coupe and lost her mind when she had to ride in my bunk a** Altima.

Sorry, kiddo.

In other news, I'm jazzed that we have planned a Genevieve-free getaway to Scottsdale, Arizona.
We are staying at the Boulders resort, and I'm ecstatic.

I'm excited about a pool in the desert, because you know I haven't got much use for an ocean.  Pretty, but too much in it that can kill me.
That's true of the desert too, I suppose.
Heat, no water, snakes.
I'll hang close to the resort.

Updates

Valentine's Day weekend was fun this year.  I received this bunch of pretties at school, and those chocolates at home.  We had an ice/snow storm hit right when school was dismissing, and it took me an hour to get home to my love.

Boo hiss to this horrific weather we have been having.  My parents kept Genevieve last weekend so we had lots of spare time on our hands.  We spent the majority of that spare time in REI.

In typical Trinity fashion he tried on every pack in the store, but left without one.  He was doing his "research."  It takes my husband months of research to make a purchase of any sort.  We ate dinner at Plat 99, the bar in the Alexander Hotel.

Meanwhile, G was running Bob and YaYa ragged at the Children's Museum.

On Monday she started in the toddler room.  She graduated from early toddlers, and will be in this room until she is two.

I really can't believe how grown up she looks now.

Wednesday morning was meltdown morning, as she refused to leave my closet.  We compromised when I told her to pick anything from my closet to take to school.  She gallivanted off with this horrendous customized Kashmir purse.
She cannot get enough of cats, particularly the resident one who loathes her.

"Kitty" continues to outscore "Momma" in terms of frequency in G's daily speaking.
She read her kitty book while holding her kitty.

Her newest hobbies include wearing a bib as a cape and pseudo feeding all of her animals.

This was taken right after she dumped her baby Stella onto the floor and screamed.

The concept of nurturing is still a bit foreign.

She handed me Rosita and I tried to model appropriate mothering behavior.

Rosita was then flung across the room.

The weather lightened up a bit at the end of the week and we cruised in the Coupe.

We are hoping for a week of better weather for jogger strolling and other forms of debauchery.  I also hope to cut down on my lack of blogging.

More Snow

Our horrendous weather continued this past week.  On Wednesday morning at 5:00 I received the call that school was cancelled.  That was day 7 of no school for the 2013-2014 school year.  Genevieve and I struggled quite a bit with entertaining ourselves.  We watched a lot of Sesame Street and G put this bib on GC and then removed it immediately about 50 times.

Sounds relaxing, right?
It would have been had my little lady possessed the finger dexterity to accomplish that task solo.  Alas, it was I who was forced to do it 50 times as she flung her head back and screamed.
Fun.

We braved school the remainder of the week and were excited to come home on Friday afternoon to a package in the mail.
Papi and Abby sent some fancy Abby Cadabby shoes that light up when Genevieve walks.  Or runs.  She really only runs.

She was ecstatic.

We spent Friday evening in these until bedtime.

After G went to sleep, I settled in for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  Trinity crashed my party when he heard the Russian National Anthem playing.  He thought I was watching Rocky VI.  I'm not kidding.  He was dismayed to discover I was watching a world wide sporting event that occurs only every 2 years.  Boo hiss.  He wanted to see Bridget Nielsen command the Russian to kill Rocky.

My adorable husband agreed to attend a Valentine's Day yoga and massage workshop with me on Saturday.  Silly man.  He agreed  in a haze of momentary dementia.  He hates yoga.  I failed to mention until we were in the car that the class was 2 1/2 hours.  He nearly ran into a tree.

We put our names on our mats.

I was once again reminded of how inflexible Sweet T is.  He can run 6 miles without batting an eyelash, but asking him to touch his toes is difficult.  Asking him to touch my toes is impossible.  It was partner yoga, so we had to lean on each other, and do poses that had us intertwined.  A lot of couples would kiss.  We snorted and blew sweaty yoga breath in each other's faces.
The massage part was great.  I thought he enjoyed that.  He later told me that I pulled his hair too hard.
Geesh.

We skipped church due to excessive snow, and the fact that we are sinners.
We donned our lipstick pink wellies and hung out for a bit in the snow.

Our lady does not like the snow so much.

She really didn't like it after she was forced on her back into the snow so her father could make a baby snow angel.

She was peeved and kicked off her boots.  We quickly returned to our heated home.  I'm hoping to have a regular schedule this week.
